Survey results

In an attempt to improve talking-heads.net, visitors of the web site were ask to answer some questions in a survey. The survey was on-line during the last two weeks of june 2000. 140 people filled out the survey (about 3.3% of all visiters). Below are some of the results that may be of general interest (with my comments/answers in blue)

Five free copies of the Talking Heads tribute album "Don't Worry About the Coverband" were given away to five randomly selected participants.

...and the winners are:

  • Alan McAulay (Glasgow, Scotland)
  • Jennipher Vigil (Purcell, OK, USA)
  • Mr. A (Sydney, Australia)
  • Simon van Leeuwen (Amsterdam, The Netherlands)
  • Chuck Anziulewicz (Spring Hill, WV, USA)

Congratulations!

Never underestimate the power of a search engine... "Bookmark" should have been an answer as well... (maybe next time)

Looks like it was a good idea to host Talking-Heads.net on a US-based web server.

I recently found a windowsticker reading "On the eight day God created Talking Heads". Has nothing to do with this survey, but what can you say about 87,9% Windows users ?

This was an important question in the survey - talking-heads.net was always optimized for 640x480, but for the new version I wanted to go to 800 x 600. As you might have noticed, the outcome of the survey made me decide to go for it.

Another very important question... with the following results:
- The Headlines moved to the homepage of the site;
- The chatroom disappeared (for now... there might be another one some day);
- I'm working on more interviews and articles (will be added soon);
- More audio clips (and later video);
- Bigger picture archive

I suggest you check out the ones you haven't been to yet. They're all worth a visit !

There were requests for articles in different languages, but making the site in English is hard enough for a non-native English speaker, let alone putting pages in German, Japanese and Swahili on-line. Right now there are Talking-Heads web sites in Korean and Spanish.

A new user forum has been setup with this new web site. I hope you will find it more user-friendly.

The newsflash about the resurrection of Talking Heads is something we are all waiting for.

AVI's, MPEG's and MP3's... I put new audio samples in MP3 on the site and will add some video later (when I finally get that damn capture card of mine to work). Complete songs or even albums (as requested) in MP3 are out of the question. Buy the CD's instead and keep the people who made the music from starvation.

Live chat's: any Talking Heads reading along ??

Contest: great idea - any suggestions ? Prizes: great idea - any suggestions ?

Soda dispenser: here you go (don't forget to put a coin in it) :

  • NO
  • ONE OF THE BEST SITES ON A BAND *ANYWHERE*! VERY THOROUGH *AND* ENJOYABLE (ESPECIALLY WHEN CHRIS AND TINA PERSONALLY ANSWER QUESTIONS ON THE BB!)
  • PLEASE DON'T PUT ANY JAVA ON THE MAIN PAGE. IT'S UGLY, SLOW TO LOAD, AND EXTRANEOUS.
  • VERY COOL PAGE---KEPP UP THE GOOD WORK :)PEACE LOVE AND ROCK N ROLL!A CHILD OF THE 70'S ;)~

Sometimes there are not much updates to publish, but you're right that the site has not been updated very frequently lately. I spent most of my spare time working on the new web site... Things should be better now.

Chatroom and Java on the homepage are gone.

Anyway, thank you all for your feedback, compliments and positive input.
