SF Film Festival
I've been a long-time fan of your site so I thought I'd mention
a few things about the SF film festival. The show was great and
I was amazed to see all of the band members together. They really
must have twisted some arms to get David Byrne up on stage with
The Heads. When I showed up I had no idea that they would be there,
so I was quite surprised to find myself standing outside next to
Jerry Harrison. It was quite a thrill to see Tina Weymouth and Chris
Franz show up in their limo. I couldn't tell anything about the
supposed digital remastering of the sound because the theater's
sound system wasn't very good (at least where I was sitting - way
in the back). The movie itself was edited so that it didn't include
"Cities" or the "Big Business/I Zimbra" medley. Jonathan Demme explained
that he thought that they slowed the film down too much (to which
one of the audience members replied, "Yes, but you have to remember
that "Cities" rocks!"). David Byrne seemed incredibly uncomfortable
and generally refused to say anything. He did, however, confirm
what I had been eagerly waiting to hear -- that the new release
of the soundtrack will include more or all of the songs from the
film (he wasn't exactly clear on that, but he did say that there
would be more songs on it). Unfortunately I didn't get an opportunity
to ask when they're planning to release "The Name of This Band Is
Talking Heads." Maybe next time. All in all it was a really great
night, and it was quite a treat to have the band members there.
