'Once In A Lifetime' is the (1 CD) European version of the 'final' Talking Heads compilation "Sand In The Vaseline".

All tracks on "Once in a Lifetime" (except the live version of 'Slippery People') are also available on `Sand`, which also comes with some previously unreleased tracks.

"Lifetime Piling Up" is the only 'new' song on "Once in a Lifetime". It was released as a single as well. The song "Sax and Violins" was previsouly released on the soundtrack of the Wim Wenders movie "Until the End of the World".
