About this Site

Francey's Talking Heads website currently consists of over 300 pages, stuffed with articles, photo's, soundclips interviews etc.etc. It's build on a non-commercial basis and runs on the servers of Studio Zimbra, my own website and graphic design studio here in the Netherlands.

In the early days (1996) the website was hosted on the server of my local ISP, but because they kept complaining about the amount of traffic the site generated I decided to move the entire site to another server and now I'm my own sponsor. And since I don't like banners on web sites, you won't find any on Talking-heads.net.

To make the site easier to find, it runs on its own domainname (www.talking-heads.net) which looks nice in your bookmark list as well (go ahead, try and add it :-)

A lot of information on this web site is based on books or articles in magazines. Some parts are direct quotes, but to keep the text easy to read, I didn't mention every source on the pages itself. Also, to keep text 'monitor friendly', some pieces have been edited.

Besides quotes from these books, I also used info from articles and interviews I collected since I started my Talking Heads collection back in 1984.

If you feel offended by the content of any of the pages or its content, please contact me.

Of course there are a lot of people outthere who helped me build Talking-heads.net over the years. What you're looking at right now is version 5.0 of the site and quite a lot of things changed over the years. For the upgrade to version 5.0 I little survey was put on-line to ask visitors for tips and suggestions. You can read the results here.

Special thanks go out to:

  • Silvia Albertazzi (for her clear views on David Byrne's lyrics and the nice E-mails)
  • Vassilis Stathopoulos (for the photo's, the web site interview and all the professional help concerning web servers etc. This guy is a genius !)
  • Simon Robinson (for giving me permission to quote from his Talking Heads magazine)
  • Bradley Kelly (for checking the pages for typos and other mistakes, the comments and everything else)
  • Christa Wessel (for sharing her interview experience and da emails)
  • Kalatchay `Judy` Romine (for the Time article on David Byrne and the inventive theorys)
  • Gerson Koenig (for being critical in a usefull way and contributing to all kind of things such as the excellent cover-o-graphy)
  • Steve Czapla (for the articles and reviews he contributed to the collectors archive)
  • Brian Davies (for transcribing and editting the lyrics of `Uh-Oh`)
  • Matthew Gray (for the article on 'Strange Ritual')
  • Lori Kern (for the article on David Byrne's `Desire` + b/w photo and the desired T-shirt !)
  • Agneta Hansson (for helping me finding things and stuff and info from Sweden)
  • Cole D. Robison (for running the mailing list & his own TH pages)
  • Jon 'Slim' Tuttle (for his corrections and patience)
  • Tracey (for the comments, help and inspiration)
  • Everybody who made a link to my pages
  • Everybody on the Talking Heads mailing list; quite some Headlines are based upon their postings
  • And last but not least : Jerry Harrison, Tina Weymouth, Chris Frantz and David Byrne for their music and inspiration. Without them, and their briliant idea of forming a band together in the mid-70s, I would have been working on a site about the intimate life of north-African earthworms.
